A light bulb moment

In 1981 on the 12th of June at 8.14 p.m. in a house in the small French village of Laragne- Montéglin on Rue Du Puits someone switched on a light in the spare bedroom but the bulb blew.
They waited until they got to the shops, bought a bulb, replaced it and switched it on to bring light to that room again but they still couldn’t find the coat with the ticket in it.
That bulb was one of the single most sturdy and relable bulbs to ever light a room in France.
I stayed there eight years later for a few hours that I think maybe proven later to be the best time of my life.
I was exausted that day and walking by the house I noticed the door slightly open but no cars outside no sound inside.
Even though I knew nobody that lived there went in and shut the door.
No sound but a ticking clock and the soft traffic outside and the lingering smell of the breakfast toast and coffee.
I went upstairs and walked past the master bedroom to the small spare bedroom at the end of the hall. As I was passing the bathroom I looked in. The tap was dripping. I stepped in and I tighted it and stepped back out into the hall back to the spare bedroom where I tried the light. The bulb was still beautifully unselfaware and working. The world is full of hard working bulbs that give service free for years without thanks. In Subway stations, Hospital hallways, school dormitories and country Out Houses. Sometimes covered in dust and cobwebs.
Did you ever express gratitude to a light bulb? No you didn't, you only think of yourself.
I sat on the bed and slipped out of my shoes. I lay on the made bed and placed my head on the softest feather pillow. I thought of her and how sad the whole thing had become in the end. I fell asleep. Sound asleep. Badly needed sleep.
Two and a half hours later a barking dog in the street woke me and I sat up, stretched and put my shoes on. The clock was still ticking. I settled the covers, slowly walked downstairs and walked into the street closing the door behind me and off into my day.
That was a time in my life I had nothing to lose and those few hours were the most peaceful I ever felt to that day or since. Who's house? I don't know.
I'd just like to say thanks.
