What’s wrong With the wOrld

You wanna know what grinds my musical gears more than any other musical thing? No? Sure?  Well I'll tell you. Its this stupid little thing.

'Easy Like Sunday Morning' is a song written by Lionel Richie when he was in The Commadores. Released March 1977. They had a hit with it. Big hit. Every single note is a soul soaked masterpiece of musicianship, songwriting and emotional depth. I love it so much I can barely contain myself when it comes on the radio.

Just put it on and really really listen. Properly.  Feel it own you. Feel it change every cell in your body. Read the lyrics. Engage with the musicianship.

Then the band  'Faith No More' in 1993 released a cover version of it. And had a very big hit too. They say "We played it totally straight and irony-free, capturing the original’s easy-like-Sunday-morning vibe."
Well, no ye didn't, its horrible. Every note.
On YouTube for example the original has 1.1 million views. The 90s cover? Over five million.
I've met people who have said they prefer the Faith No More version. So if you get time in the next few days I invite you to listen to them side by side. Twice. And then you too will know the source of all that’s wrong with the world.
Because that's what's wrong with the world. You’re welcome. Somebody fix it.
